Having a good drink selection is a must during our game nights. Recently, we have been trying out mixed drink recipes to find the perfect matches to the game we are playing. We find that alcohol really enhances our character creation and acting during our Dungeons and Dragons campaigns. It leads to fun storylines like befriending an enchanted broom you find in a cursed house during your campaign, and becoming more attached to the broom’s fate than your character’s.
One of the Quest Friends recently discovered his hidden talent, which is being a superb mixologist. Who knew that the guy who waited until he was 24 to try a drink would be the best drink curator out of the whole gang?
Anyways, due to it’s popularity during our last gaming session, we wanted to share with you his latest creation: The Essence of Sunburst Elixir. It’s the perfect drink to cool you off during a summer gaming session!
The recipe is super simple-
Along with two of your wizard friends, use a prism to harvest the sun’s energy into a concentrated, liquid light. Then gather round the shining flask and cast a Cone of Cold spell to add the frosty edge to the mixture. Any who drinks this magical essence gets two hours of bliss with advantage to charisma! At the end of the two hours, the user incurs one level of exhaustion as the elixir effects wear off.
Or for you mere mortals, just head to your local Trader Joes (or your favorite grocery store) and grab what you need to make this tropical, fruity delight!
- 1 bag of the Trader Joes Tropical Fruit Mix (or an alternative 16 oz tropical fruit mix- ours had mango, pineapple, strawberry, and banana)
- 1/2 cup Tequila
- 1/4 cup Triple Sec
- 1/4 cup simple syrup
- 1-2 splashes of pineapple juice
- Juice from 2 limes (find our favorite juicer here to make your drink making even easier!)
- optional: extra limes for the rim of the glass
Blend it all together and voila! You have a boozy tropical drink to get you in a summer gaming mood. If you want more of a frozen feel, blend in some ice until you have your desired consistency.
Serve in a tall cocktail glass with a lime wedge on the rim and a colorful straw for maximum effect!
